What’s she up to

Cafes, libraries and anywhere noisy is where Naomi does most of her writing. Using the environment and people around her to draw inspiration from is a huge part of Naomi’s ability to bring the best out in her characters.

Current Work in Progress

Naomi is working on a creative historical non-fiction piece that initially came about in an effort to pay homage to her maternal grandmother, Madge. She is now deep into the third draft and as all manuscripts tend to do, it has evolved, swaying across to a memoiresque tale of love, family tragedy and generational trauma, with a nice touch of superstition and humor thrown in.

In what has been described as an authentic Australian lyrical style, Naomi’s writing voice is a beautiful spread of narrative that evokes visceral reactions in the reader. Her ability to bring a strong sense of place and feeling using only words, is a rare experience for readers. Her current WIP, Madge is akin to Frank McCourt’s – Angela’s Ashes, Jane Harper’s – The Dry and Lorna Sage’s – Bad Blood.
